Five Gradtech students attended an Open Day that was specifically organised for them within the civil and mechanical engineering fields at the University of Leeds.
The open day was kindly organised by the Foundation Year Team at Leeds in conjunction with the International Office.
The day started with a brief introduction in the morning from the International Office. The students then met up with Dr John Uren, Foundation Year Director, who provided them with an introduction to Leeds and the Foundation Year. The students were treated with a University lunch at The Refectory, accompanied by a campus tour with International Assistant Ms Amy Brookes and Student Ambassador Ms Eleni Loukou. The tour provided the students with a chance to observe the facilities on offer at Leeds.
The students then gained some insight from the Mechanical Engineering Department with a brief tour and introduction provided by Dr Alison Jones, Lecturer in Computational Biomechanics. Their academic insight continued with a visit to the Civil Engineering Department, again with a brief tour and introduction, this time provided by Prof. Phil Purnell of Materials and Strucutres.
All the students thoroughly enjoyed their day and were very much pleased with the University of Leeds, the facilities and the academic programmes on offer.
The best of luck to our students!
