Gradtech welcomes York St John University to Libya

14 December 2008

In December, Gradtech was pleased to arrange two English Language Training workshops for teachers of English, one at Al-Refak University in Tripoli and one at El Mergeb University in Tarhouna.

Marion Yates, Head of the International Centre at York St John University, delivered the workshops to a group of around 50 participants in Tripoli and around 100 in Tarhouna. It was Marion's first visit to Libya and she comments, 'I was very impressed by the facilities offered by each university and also by the enthusiasm of the participants.

We have welcomed a number of Libyan students to our English Language courses at York St John and so I was particularly interested in coming to Libya to see something of the country and experience the culture for myself. I was made to feel very welcome, wherever I went, and learned a great deal about language teaching in Libya. Following my visit, I have great admiration for the talented and dedicated teachers I met, who are doing so much to promote English language teaching within Libya.'

York St John University will be attending the ELTEX exhibition in March in both Tripoli (16-18 March) and Benghazi (19 March). Come along and find out more about studying English at York St John University.
